Another useful feature of the Online Catalog is the ability to locate individual short stories or plays. Let's say you want to know if the short story "Moving the Mountain" by Charlotte Gilman Perkins is in an anthology in your library's collection. You do a title search. This is possible because the Online Catalog searches the "notes" and "contents" fields when doing a title search. It is in the notes or contents field that the title of short stories and plays in collections or anthologies may be listed. Searching the Online Catalog

Truncation and Boolean Operators in the Online Catalog
The Online Catalog supports truncation. This means that if you type only the beginning letters of a word followed by an asterisk * , the system will locate records that include alternate endings for the root entered. For example, if you enter disab* , the system will retrieve records that include disability, disabilities, and disabled. This process allows you to broaden your search. You can also use Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT in searching the Online Catalog.
It is important to remember that system designs vary. One may use * , and another may use ? for truncation. It is always a good idea to look at the "help" provided before you begin your search. Play with the system to see how it works!
