A catalog of the library's holdings? A reference book? Databases of periodical articles? What database do you think would be appropriate for the proposed Holocaust query? Jot down a few of your thoughts, and then proceed. (Click here to review the sample research query.) Where Should I Look for Information?
First think of the discipline, and then the access tool. If you are looking at the effects of the trauma of the Holocaust on both survivors and their children, the Social Sciences would be an appropriate discipline and a good place to begin. How about a scholarly database such as PsychFirst? It indexes and provides abstracts of psychology journals. Certainly there must also be books on the subject (check catalogs) as well as magazine articles, videotapes (Schindler's List) and audiotapes (interviews with survivors.) Any of these different formats might be helpful to you.
